About the event

Bryan  “Harvest Blaque” Hancock is currently an Artist in Residence at Carilion Clinic, where he works with a wide range of patients and employees to help process their emotions and thoughts through artistic mediums. At its core, art is communication. Bryan helps people communicate with themselves and others in a real way, forging genuine connections. As career communicators, we seek to make genuine, authentic connections in our work every day. Bryan is going to tell us how he goes about connecting memories and building communities, and also offer us a look at some of his performance methods.

Bryan is an actor, Slam poet and Hip-Hop Performer. Bryan works at The Jefferson Center music lab as their lead Hip-Hop studies teacher. His acting credits include the webseries ”Tuned Out T.V.” and Showtimers production of “12 Angry Men,” Hollins Playwright’s festival “Pheromones.” He is currently a cast member of The Big Lick Conspiracy Comedy Troupe. Harvest also is the Host/Curator of the bi-weekly poetry show Soul Sessions. For six years, Soul Sessions has been a peaceful, creative hub for all walks of life and an open space for one to let their soul be free and their voice be heard through open mic poetry. Harvest has worked on his craft as a performance artist/emcee and is also known for his underground mixtapes “Stress As A Weapon” Vol 1&2. Harvest Blaque is the front man for the award winning Harvest Blaque&Co. who has done exceptionally well with their EP’ RELIEF’. He will be releasing his solo album “Mind Scrub” later this winter.
