Let's Dive in to 2024 - BRPRSA Style!

Happy New Year, PRSA Blue Ridge Members!

I hope your 2024 is off to a fantastic start. I’m excited to serve as chapter president and look forward to getting to know all of you better.

In October, I had the opportunity to attend PRSA Leadership Rally and Leadership Assembly in Nashville, TN. 2023 PRSA Chair, Michelle Egan, shared the national board’s strategic plan, which is based on three pillars: Build, Influence, and Evolve.

The board’s goal for this year is to implement those pillars at the chapter level. First, we want to build on our existing membership by offering informative and timely programming for professionals at every career level, which includes reactivating our “Evening With” series (see our full list of chapter events further down). We also want to connect more with PRSSA students in our area. After all, the students sitting in our classrooms or completing our internship programs are the future of our industry. We’ve updated our sponsorship package

to include a PRSSA Champions option, which will support students who wish to build their knowledge by attending Blue Ridge Chapter programming.

Our chapter is committed to the influence pillar: Continuing to be examples of and advocate for the ethical practice of public relations in our area and beyond. Our programs this year cover a range of issues as well as opportunities for members to build their skills.

Finally, we want to help you evolve your knowledge, skills, and abilities by connecting you to colleagues and resources both locally and globally. Your PRSA membership affords many (often FREE) opportunities to learn and grow in your role. Be on the lookout for those opportunities from the chapter and PRSA national.

I look forward to seeing you at our first event of the year on February 8: The PRSA Blue Ridge Summit Awards. Join us at the Shenandoah Club from 12:00-1:30 p.m. as we

recognize outstanding public relations work in our area! (Click here to register).

Cheers to an incredible 2024!

With gratitude,

Hannah Shinault Deuyour

BRPRSA President (2024)

Stay in the know with this calendar of events for 2024! You will NOT want to miss what we have planned for 2024 (peep that April event!!!).

As we celebrate Black History Month, PRSA proudly recognizes the contributions of African Americans to the rich and diverse legacy of public relations and communications, and honors the strategic communicators who are writing today’s Black history. This month-long initiative was started by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, who began the program in 1926 as a week-long commemoration.

Check out PRSA’s resources designed to help you champion diversity, equity, and inclusion through your public relations work.
